Mass Union Legislative Report of Fall 2009

The Public Housing Operating Subsidy for FY 20 10 is $62.5 million. However, the nonutility
budget allowarlce has been cut by 4.7 percent, which means that a number of
housing authorities will have to cut staff. In the past, when the state was economicaily strapped, they raised tenant rents--essentially trying to balance their budget on the backs of the poor! The Governor will be announcitlg another list of (9C) cuts.

We have prepared a petition for each of you to copy and use in your own developments.
We ask that you go door-to-door and gather signatures, with names and addresses 'The
signatures do not have to be just tenants We are hoping to get a mirtimum of at least
500 signatures. But, we can't do this without your help.

We need the legislature to know that we won't take additional cuts and increased rents without a "fight"
Make a copy to keep for yourselves then send the completed forms into ...
